Pipe thread tape

You might refer to pipe thread tape as "thread sealing tape", "PTFE tape", "Teflon tape" or "plumber tape". It is used to help form a watertight seal between plumbing joints and lubricate the connections between joints, making threading smoother and easier to disassemble.

 

Silicone tape

Silicone tape is also called "self-fusion tape", and unlike other tapes, it does not actually stick to the pipe. Silicone tape can be wrapped around leaks in the pipeline to form a reliable, durable and waterproof temporary seal.

 

 

How to use water pipe leakproof tape

To use pipe threaded tape to repair leaking joints, you will use it to replace worn seals between joints. To do this, you must disconnect the connection itself and then wrap tape around the pipe threads. First, turn off the water. Then, unscrew the leaking pipe joint. Next, remove the worn seal ring and start applying pipe thread tape. Wrap the tape on the threads in the direction opposite to the direction of screwing back into the pipe. After winding the end of the pipe, screw the pipe back into the joint and test for leaks.

 

Find the leak, and when you are completely sure where the leak is, turn off the water source. Dry the pipe area around the leak as much as possible, and then start to wrap it with tape. Wrap the tape as tightly as possible and overlap it several times. Give yourself some leeway by wrapping tape around the area around the spill. Make sure that the seal you want to create is as tight and close to the pipe as possible for best results.
