Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is an important variety of high molecular polymers. Because of its special carbon-fluorine bond polymerization effect, it has the characteristics of low friction coefficient, good self-lubricating performance, excellent chemical resistance and wide temperature range. Non-woven fabrics and open-cell fluoropolymer plastics are suitable for medical applications and other key industries.

 

The physical and chemical properties of ePTFE may be critical for various medical and non-medical applications. These applications are mainly in the form of tubes, rods, sheets and special profiles. Specifically, its uses include implantable barrier membranes, instrument covers, delivery tubes, and so on. Few nonwoven plastics can meet or exceed the barriers of typical medical implants and industrial devices, the bending properties required for device delivery and bending parts. ePTFE is cited in medical research papers for its endothelialization and thrombosis properties.

 


The waterproof dust-proof and breathable ePTFE membrane is a functional material made by special manufacturing processes such as stretching. The manufacturing process of ePTFE is mainly to first polymerize the monomer tetrafluoroethylene to form the polymer polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), namely Teflon. Then the PTFE is made into porous waterproof, dustproof and breathable membrane materials with different pore diameters through processes such as stretching. The waterproof, dust-proof and breathable EPTFE membrane has a certain dust-proof function due to its special microstructure, and it can also have a certain oil-proof ability through surface treatment.

 

High-quality ePTFE materials have been applied in some parts of automobiles. ePTFE has the functions of balancing internal and external pressure differences and water vapor transmission, which can effectively improve the performance and service life of electronic products.

 

Due to its high temperature resistance, hydrophobicity, chemical inertness and high lubricity, ePTFE is used for high temperature sensor covers, low pressure key fluid channels, high temperature gaskets and chemical barriers. The soft and porous ePTFE can permeate air, but is still watertight under low pressure.
